You Secured a PS5 Launch Day Order: 8 Things to Do While You Wait

The PS5 launch day was always going to be insane, if the preorders were anything to go by. Retailers are promising some stock on November 12th, but we’re already seeing places sell out immediately and websites go down once again. Among all of this, if you did secure a PS5 order for yourself, congratulations! While you wait for it to ship out, let’s get you started on some considerations and steps so you’re ready to go when it arrives. 8 Things to Consider (Or Buy) While You Wait For Your PS5 to Arrive These are the things that went through my head while I anxiously stared out my window waiting for the FedEx truck. Hopefully they can help you figure out your next steps as well: #1 – Space (both digital and physical) The PS5 is massive, way bigger than even the PS4 Pro. You’re going to need space in the real world, while also considering the somewhat limited space on the SSD, but more on that in a moment. The PS5 includes a stand that you can use for both horizontal and vertical placement. I personally have opted for the vertical option, but keep in mind that the stand is needed even if you’re laying it down, in order to keep things stable. Now, on the subject of the SSD. We’re looking at 667.2 GB of usable space after the OS, so more than the PS4 had at launch, but less than what we’re used to. Now, there aren’t any expansion options for PS5 games at launch, but external drives are supported for PS4 games. I will say that, as of this writing, I’ve been hearing about some issues with crashing and using Rest Mode with an external drive plugged in, so it may be beneficial to keep things simple until another firmware update or two comes in. Beyond keeping downloads managed, you can also do things like keep your recordings to a minimum to save space, and disabling trophy videos that capture when you unlock a trophy could help as well. Head to settings > captures and broadcasts and disable trophy videos and screenshots if you want to avoid having these take up space. #2 – Digital or physical for the games you want? The PS5 is coming in two versions, which is something I predicted well before the announcement in this article that also goes a little too crazy with the possibilities. Even so, if you get the digital version of the system for $399, you’re going all-digital and that’s totally cool! Keep in mind that you’ll need to buy games like Watch Dogs: Legion and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla digital as well if you plan to move them from PS4 to PS5, you won’t be able to upgrade a disc with a disc-less system. I personally go back-and-forth on digital and physical games, but keep this in mind as you stock up on your chosen titles. #3 – Grab an extra controller It’s an age-old tradition, but … Read More

PS5 orders go live tonight at GameStop! Here’s how to secure one at launch! PS Weekly #6

First off, today is Veterans Day in the United States and I want to make a moment to appreciate the United States Veterans and US Servicemen both past and present. Thank you for all you have done for the nation. Without the courage of those men and women, I would not have the freedoms I have today and for that my family and I, as well as everyone here at PS5 Gamers are grateful.    UPDATE: Right before I went to publish this article, GameStop emailed me to let me know that they will have PS5 console sales go live this evening on Gamestop.com They did not offer me a specific time other than saying “this evening.” Get ready to order online, but read up on our tips on how to secure a PS5 console for release day! Best of luck!     I pushed off this week’s PS Weekly by one day to pay respects to the holiday listed above, but we will be back next Tuesday without regular news updates. The time has arrived for the first wave of PS5’s and we are less than 24 hours away from the official release day! Whether it’s being wicked up at the store or delivered to the home, Gamers everywhere are getting on the hype train! Choo-Choo!! Exciting times indeed!   Now, a warning for those that were not able to preorder a PS5. If you or someone you know is hoping to snag a PS5 on release day at the stores, plan accordingly. It was announced that (at least in the U.S.A.) stores would not sell the consoles in person. You will need to place your order online and pick it up in the store. I’m sure there will be some delivery options, but the point being that it won’t do you any good to camp it out at stores overnight. Some stores will likely disregard this policy and sell consoles in person without an order ahead of time, but for most, this won’t be the case.    My advice to you is to set up several phones, tablets, laptops or computers and log into the websites you want to buy from and wait it out while spamming that refresh button. If you’re looking to purchase from Walmart, they are offering 4 different times on November 12th, for you to get a chance to purchase online.    PS5 consoles will be on sale at Walmart.com at 12:00 pm, 3:00 pm, 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm Eastern time. This is where the constant refreshing comes into play. I don’t really know how early you should start checking, but I would be ready at least 30 minutes before these times start. The PS5 could go live early, so it’s good to be there already. If you get into a que, stop refreshing. Otherwise, keep it up until you see it is available and put it in your cart for checkout.    You might want to check online and social media sites … Read More

Unboxing the Sexy PS5 Beast

In preparation for you owning a PS5 soon, let’s get you all hot and bothered by watching others unbox it! Are you turned on yet!? Let us know in the comments. Just remember the PS5 can soon be in your hands as well!

Spider-Man: Miles Morales Preview – Donning The Suit

Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4 was a gigantic hit and a massive exclusive for Sony. Insomniac has been known to make great games, but this one truly blew everyone away. A sequel was inevitable, and while we don’t have a Spider-Man 2 just yet, Spider-Man: Miles Morales should scratch the itch we’re all looking for. Launching on PS4 and PS5 on November 12th, this standalone title carries the story forward in a game that can be safely compared to Uncharted: Lost Legacy in terms of scope and length. Let’s see what we know so far! Miles Takes up The Mantle in Time For PS5’s Launch When this new title as announced for PS5, I was excited. What I didn’t expect was it to be a launch title for the PS5. The story takes place after the PS4 title, and while the idea of Miles Morales wearing a spider suit is a little bit of a spoiler, I won’t mention anything else from the first game to be safe. Our first look at gameplay came during Sony’s September showcase, and not only did the graphics look amazing, but the combat seemed to be more varied and bombastic. The set piece on display was also incredibly impressive. An electric ability came into play, along with some newly revealed invisibility in the latest gameplay trailer. I imagine the swinging mechanics will remain largely the same, along with the basic combat, but these new abilities hint at expanded options for combat. It will be interesting to see how this plays into potential suits for Miles. I wouldn’t mind seeing new side mission types either, but I could be getting ahead of myself. In either case, I’ll be playing Spider-Man: Miles Morales at launch for sure. A Gorgeous Display of PS5’s Power Beyond the bump in graphics, I know we’re all wondering about options for performance and resolution. Insomniac has confirmed a 4K/60 performance mode for the game. From the sounds of it, we’ll also get a visual mode that drops to 30 fps, but adds in fancy things like Ray Tracing. Personally, I’ll do the lower frame cap if it means really seeing what the PS5 can do, but what do you think? Are you picking up Spider-Man: Miles Morales at launch? Let us know in the comments! PS5 pre-orders are still not available, what to do while you wait!?

PS5 Pre-orders have seemingly come and gone a few times now, but we are still awaiting news as to whether or not Pre-Orders will open one more time before the actual release date. So, the big question here is, what to do while we wait? If you plan on getting a PS5 this year, there are still plenty of things to consider while you wait for that upgrade. Here are a few suggestions to help you bide your time. Start planning ahead. With PS5 offering support for 4K graphics at 120Hz refresh rate and not to mention 8K support, you might want to consider upgrading the television set you plan to use to get the most out of these graphical capabilities. Not only are T.V. sets something to consider, but the PS5 will also feature 3D audio. There is a slew of audio hardware that will be available to take advantage of this stellar sound setting, but keep in mind, the PS5 will not support optical audio. If optical is something you currently use or are planning on using, you’ll have to run the setup through something other than the PS5 and depending on the setup being used, it might not be ideal.  That being said, you can follow this link to our listing of the best TV and Sound Systems for the PS5 here:PS5Playstation5.com/best-tv-and-sound-system-for-the-ps5/  TV and Audio equipment aside, there is still plenty to do in the meantime. Let’s discuss gaming space. New consoles means spending more time playing games out the gate. Comfort is key when it comes to gaming for long periods of time. Have a look at your current setup and decide if it’s everything you want for your upcoming game sessions. While sitting on a comfy couch is great, there are a lot of office chairs (gaming chairs if you will) that will offer a great deal of back support for extended play time. Most will be provided with wheels and are fairly light in weight which makes moving them around the house much easier than tugging the couch or recliner to a position that you might find more comforting. Be sure to check out Amazon for some great deals on chairs made for gaming.  Sometimes when we’re playing intense game sessions, the convenience of having a little fridge next to us is the difference between winning or losing a match when the game can’t be paused. I have seen mini fridges that will hold up to 6 cans of soda or whatever you might partake in, to minis that can hold half the amount of the average size refrigerator. The amount of cold drinks and snacks you need at hand is a personal choice, but the convenience alone can be a life saver in gaming. Pun kind of intended… Keep in mind that these mini fridges can be pretty durable and not only used for beverages and snacks, but it can also be used to place some lighter weight items on top to keep … Read More
